Eva Green is in talks to star in the movie based on Xerxes, the Frank Miller successor to the hit graphic novel and film 300, according to Hollywood Reporter. Green (Casino Royale, The Golden Compass) just wrapped her performance in Dark Shadows (see “Eva Green Gets ‘Dark Shadows’ Nod”). 300: Battle of Artemisia will be directed by Norm Munro (see “Noam Munro to Helm ‘300’ Sequel”).
Green would play the role of Artemisia, a gold-covered goddess who influences Xerxes’ plans to attack a Greek army under the control of Themistokles, in a battle that happens at the same time as the battle in 300.
Limited Xerxes material has appeared in print, including a preview in Dark Horse Presents #1. Dark Horse CEO Mike Richardson said earlier this year that the book was well along. “Frank [Miller]’s working on the third issue right now, so we’re coming close to the date when we can announce when that will be released,” Richardson said (see “Mike Richardson: The ICv2 Interview, Part 2”), “The book looks tremendous.”
