The latest Marvel Comics teaser for the debut of the June-shipping Spider-Men series fills in one of the silhouettes from the previous Spider-Men teaser poster (see “When Marvel Universes Collide”), and as predicted the figure on the left now appears to be the traditional Amazing Spider-Man (aka Peter Parker). The other figure remains in a silhouette that certainly looks like the outline of the new Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales (see “Miles Morales Unmasked”).
The fact that the Ultimate Spider-Man creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli is behind the new Spider-Men series also provides a strong indication that Marvel is about to create the first crossover saga between the mainstream and ultimate Marvel universes. The new series will debut just as the excitement for the July 3rd debut of Marc Webb’s reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise should be building to a peak.
Of course the House of Ideas can always figure out a way to throw us a curve, but the three Spider-Men teasers, which began with what looked like a combination of The Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man logos, all point in the direction of an unprecedented crossover between the two once distinct Marvel universes.
