Dynamite Entertainment and Top Cow Productions have announced the July release of Witchblade: Demon Reborn #1 written by Ande Parks and drawn by Jose Luis with covers by Dennis Calero and Jae Lee. The full-color 48-page comic with a cover price of $3.99 will also contain the original Mark Millar/Jae Lee Witchblade: Demon story.
The new Dynamite comic is a sequel to the Witchblade: Demon one-shot crossover created by Millar and Lee several years ago in which Sara Pezzini and The Witchblade tangled with a character who fancied himself a demon and sent him to his proper destination in Hades. In Parks’ new saga the demon is offered a temporary respite from his torturous existence if he will return to Earth and bring Sara Pezzini back with him.
In Demon Reborn in addition to chronicling the struggle with the returning demon Parks also manages to examine the burden of The Witchblade and the impact that it has on Sara Pezzini’s life and her struggle to control it. Dynamite’s Nick Barucci was thrilled that Top Cow allowed Dynamite to reprint the original Mark Millar/Jae Lee story because it provides the perfect introduction to the harrowing world of Sara Pezzini that Parks and Luis explore in Witchblade: Demon Reborn.
