Stronghold Games has announced that it will debut Space Cadets, a science fiction themed board game at Essen 2012 in October.  Designed by Bryan, Sydney, and Geoff Engelstein, Space Cadets is a fun and frantic cooperative board game for 3-6 players who take on the roles of Bridge Officers of a Starship. 

 

Players enact the roles of the Helmsman, who has to plot the ship’s course through asteroid fields and nebulae, or the Engineer, who has to use dominoes to get enough power to each system, or the Weapons Officer, who has to complete puzzles to load weapons and then flip a disc down a track to launch them, the Shields Officer, who uses tiles to form poker hands to get the strongest shields, or the Sensor Officer, who uses the sense of touch to scan for and lock on enemy targets, or the Captain, who has to make sure that the entire bridge team stays on task.
