Advance tracking indicates that
The Amazing Spider-Man will open with $125 million in ticket sales over the six-day July 4th weekend, according to
Hollywood Reporter. Response is expected to be particularly strong among males and young women (who presumably are attracted by the relationship storyline, see "
Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy").
That opening box office would put the
Spider-Man reboot behind the original
Spider-Man movies, although it wouldn’t be too far behind the first movie in the series, which debuted with $114.8 million on a three-day early May weekend in 2002.
