Here's the visual skinny on the "slo-mo" drug that is flooding the streets of Mega City One and creating all sorts of problems for Judge Dredd in the Pete Travis-helmed Dredd 3-D, which stars Karl Urban and debuts in the U.S. on the 21st of September (and in the U.K. on September 7th).

In this featurette the cast and crew explain how the filmmakers sought to create the visual effects associated with the drug, which involved some pretty interesting techniques that endow blood splatter with a sort of fearsome abstract beauty.  This is the second, very interesting behind-the-scenes reveal from the new Dredd film.  Lionsgate released an earlier featurette that detailed the movie's origins in the 2000 AD comics (and provided a taste of the old Dredd mega-violence that got the film its "R" rating--see "'Dredd' Featurette Traces Its Comic Book Origins").
