David Straithairn (Alphas, Lincoln) is one of four actors in talks to join the cast of Legendary’s Godzilla reboot, according to Variety, in a military role, along with Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, and Aaron Johnson.  Director Gareth Edwards is apparently working toward the film’s scheduled release date of May 16, 2014 despite the acrimonious departure of the film’s original producers (see "Legendary Sues 'Godzilla' Producers"). 

Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead) is rewriting the David Goyer script (see "'Godzilla' Gets New Writer").
