IDW will publish comics tied to the new feature My Little Pony Equestria Girls (see "Bronies Get Ready"), My Little Pony owner Hasbro announced at Licensing Expo this week. Other licenses tied to the feature, in which the My Little Pony characters are teenagers in high school, will include Little Brown books and Fashion Angels accessories.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has been a huge hit, driving comics and merch sales to surprising heights (see "Bronies Drive 'MLP' Hits"). In broader markets, My Little Pony is the #2 toddler toothpaste brand, and the new plush line at Build-a-Bear is the most successful plush line in the chain’s history.
Expect new licensed products including fashion tees, sleepwear, hair accessories, and jewelry, plus an expanded apparel line at H&M targeting both girls and women.
