Aniplex USA has announced that it will be including an exclusive Bushiroad Weiss Schwarz card with the August release of the first Blu-ray volume of the Sword Art Online anime series (see "'Sword Art Online' Anime Due in August"), and now Bushiroad has revealed the nature of the first exclusive promo card, which will be released on August 13, 2013.
Bushiroad has revealed that the first promo card will feature the characters Kirito and Asuna from Sword Art Online. The card will be a useable in the Weiss Schwarz CCG game and will only be available as a promo with the Blu-ray edition of the Sword Art Online anime.
Bushiroad’s Weiss Schwarz is a popular CCG in Japan. The game uses characters from various anime series including Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero among others. This summer the game expands to include Sword Art Online, a 25-episode series produced by A-1 Pictures in Japan in 2012. It takes place in the near future and deals with several MMORPG worlds including the eponymous Sword Art Online, a serious immersive game where once players login, they are unable to log out until they have reached the 100th floor of the game’s tower and defeated the final boss. The Sword Art Online anime is slated to begin airing on the Cartoon Network in August.
Bushiroad is also preparing to release Sword Art Online Trial Decks and Boosters for the Weiss Schwarz game this summer (see "'Sword Art Online' Trial Decks & Boosters").
Due out on August 13th
