Comic-Con News: In its fifth and final announcement of the day Dynamite Entertainment revealed an agreement with veteran comic book writer Peter Milligan (Shade the Changing Man, X-Statix, Hellblazer), which will enable Dynamite to publish Milligan’s new series Terminal Hero. Milligan has had considerable success creating both independent titles like Skin as well as mainstream Marvel (X-Force/X-Statix, Spider-Man, Thor, Punisher) and DC books (Batman, Detective Comics), though his sensibility was probably best suited to DC’s edgy Vertigo imprint where he worked on Shade, Hellblazer, Greek Street, and numerous other projects.
Milligan’s penchant for the bizarre should get plenty of play in Terminal Hero, which the author describes as the saga of “one poor bastard’s rollercoaster ride through a world that he is still trying to make sense of. It’s about how far you would go to stay alive. It occasionally plays the comic book ‘hero’ game, but I aim to push it to places that normal comic books don’t go. Luckily Dynamite isn’t afraid to go there.”
