Cryptozoic Entertainment has announced a Q4 release date for The Walking Dead: The Best Defense, the follow-up to its best-selling The Walking Dead board game from 2011, the company’s best seller to date (see "100,000 'Walking Dead' Games"). MSRP is $40.00.
Announced at Toy Fair in February with the tentative title of The Walking Dead: Road to the Prison Board Game (see "Cryptozoic Readies New 'Walking Dead Board Game' For September"), The Walking Dead: The Best Defense differs from the original in both setting and in its cooperative nature. Set during the second and third seasons of the television show, players take on the roles of series characters such as Rick, Daryl, and Michonne and work to defend resources from approaching Walkers for 12 rounds. The Leader of each round makes decisions to defend the group from calamities, but the other players can defy the Leader, for a price.
Cryptozoic will have a sample demo at its booth at Gen Con, and game designer Matt Hyra will also be in attendance.
