In today’s Marvel conference call and accompanying live blog, writer Matt Fraction along with editors Nick Lowe and Axel Alonso discussed Inhumanity, revealed variant covers for Inhumanity #1, and discussed plans for the new ongoing series Inhuman, which will focus on the Inhumans’ royal family.
At the beginning of September, Marvel released the cover for the Inhumanity #1 one-shot, along with the cryptic teaser “All will be revealed September 18th” (see "Marvel Unveils 'Inhumanity' #1 Cover"). At that time it was also known that Matt Fraction (Hawkeye) had been tapped to be the writer for the new Inhuman book (with art by Joe Madureira), and that the Inhumanity event will be launched out of the Infinity event (see "Matt Fraction Leaving 'Fantastic Four' & 'FF'" and "Fraction, Madureira on 'Inhuman'").
Now the shape of the Inhumanity event is becoming more clear. Inhumanity #1, by Fraction and Olivier Coipel, is a one-shot, which kicks off the event. Inhuman, the new ongoing series by Fraction and Madureira, will be the core book in the event, and there will be an undisclosed number of tie-in arcs in other series, including Avengers Assemble and Indestructible Hulk.
Big impacts on the Marvel universe are promised. "This will be one of the moments where you can plant a flag and see a big change in the Marvel Universe," Fraction said.
"I feel this freedom to do completely different stuff with entirely new situations altogether." Fraction said about the Inhuman series, "It’s as close to a novel as I’ve ever done."
