A new CG-animated Sonic the Hedgehog series, produced by SEGA of America and French company Genao Productions, will debut on Cartoon Network in the U.S. sometime in fall 2014. The initial series order is set at 52 eleven-minute episodes.
Tentatively titled Sonic Boom, the show will be the first time Sonic and friends have appeared in a CG-animated series. It will be aimed at children ages 6 – 11.
Sonic has previously appeared in four TV series and more than 70 video game releases since his initial appearance in June 1991. Sonic has appeared worldwide on toys, apparel, and comics. (The property currently ranks at #5 on the Kids and Tweens GN Properties on the ICv2 Spring Chart, see "Top 10 Kids & Tweens GN Properties--Spring 2013.") The next video game release will be Sonic Lost World, for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS platforms later this year.
