Man of Action's Joe Casey will write a new series featuring Jack Kirby’s Captain Victory for Dynamite Entertainment, with art by an all-star line-up, the company announced today. Artists will include Farel Dalrymple, Ilises Farinas, Michel Fiffe, Nathan Fox, Jim Mahood, Benjamin Marra, Jim Rugg and Connor Willumsen. It’s planned for a July launch.
Although not Kirby’s greatest creation, Captain Victory was a landmark character because it was creator-owned and the first book from Pacific Comics, an upstart competitor at the time. Dynamite acquired comic rights to Captain Victory and other Kirby characters in 2009 (see "Dynamite to Launch Kirby-verse"), and launched its first Captain Victory title in 2011 as part of the Kirby: Genesis group (see "''Captain Victory' in October").
