Among its many announcements at last week’s Toy Fair in New York, game publisher Cryptozoic Entertainment revealed plans for an expansion set for its The Walking Dead Board Game: The Best Defense. The Woodbury Expansion adds a new playable location and expands the game to five players. It is scheduled to release in the second quarter of 2014.
The focus of the new expansion will be "The Governor," who can fight against the Survivors as an automated pawn; or one player can take on the Governor’s role and play against the others.
The new Woodbury location will include 25 new Woodbury Resource Cards and five new Event Cards. Survivors can risk the wrath of the Governor by sneaking into Woodbury to draw cards from this deck, which includes powerful resources like the Assault Rifle. The expansion also offers an alternate victory condition: if the Survivors can completely deplete the Woodbury deck, they win the game.
As an expansion, a copy of The Walking Dead Board Game: The Best Defense is required to use the components included in the Woodbury Expansion.
Woodbury Expansion will have a suggested retail price of $12.95. For more information about The Walking Dead Board Game: The Best Defense, see "New 'Walking Dead' Board Game."
