Fantasy Flight Games has revealed the next expansion set for its best-selling fantasy board game Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition. The Crown of Destiny expansion will feature new heroes and monsters for the popular game. It will release in the second quarter.
The new expansion will introduce monsters and heroes that were part of the first edition of the game, but which have not appeared in the Second Edition before now. A total of 13 plastic figures are included: four heroes and nine monsters. On the hero side, Corbin, Lindel, Jaes the Exile, and Brother Gherinn are included. The Overlord’s forces are reinforced by four lava beetles, two giants, and three chaos beasts.
In addition to the new figures, Crown of Destiny includes two new quests, which can be played individually or added to a campaign. In the "Burning Harvest," the heroes enter a fiery cavern in search of gems. Meanwhile, in "Crown of Destiny," they journey to a mountain peak to recover an artifact that can transform their lives.
Descent: Journeys in the Dark was the eighth best-selling board game in ICv2’s analysis of board game sales in Summer, 2013 (see "Top 10 Board Games--Summer 2013").
