Dark Horse will release a print edition of the Crystal Heart webcomic, in which four players learn and play the Crystal Heart tabletop roleplaying game, this fall.  The webcomic was launched in 2017 and was completed in 2024; the complete story has not previously been released in print.

The webcomic is written by Eran Aviram (City of Mist), with art by Aviv Or (Critical Role: Tales of Exandria – Artagan). The story takes place in a world where everyone’s heart is made of stone, except for those replaced by crystals that grant them unique powers.  Special agents of Syn team up to find more crystals around the world, and to solve the mystery behind the crystals.

Artist Aviv Or described the path to this volume. “We started Crystal Heart in early 2017,” she said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “And while we’ve had a vision of the whole story from the get-go, it was still a bit of a feat to actually finish it, seven years later.”

“The world of Crystal Heart has lived in our minds for years, created originally for an anime-inspired home game,” she continued. “Sharing it with the webcomic readers and later with players of the RPG has been so fulfilling, and we can’t wait to have even more people experience this weird, fun, unique world for themselves.”

The tabletop RPG, a setting for the Savage Worlds (Adventure Edition) RPG (which is required to play), was first published through a 2018 Kickstarter, and then had a release to retailers.

The 336-page 7” x 10” Crystal Heart paperback will be released in bookstores and comic stores on November 25 and 26 at $29.99 MSRP.
