Among the many licensed items presented by USAopoly at Toy Fair in New York was a new card game from the award-winning designer Richard Borg (Liars Dice, Memoir ’44, Commands & Colors) called TACDEX. Three TACDEX games are planned for August release: a pirates version, a Halo version, based on the popular video game franchise, and a Walking Dead version, based on the comics.
"It’s a light strategy card game, similar to War, but with more strategy and less luck," USAopoly’s Media Coordinator Andrea Rodi explained. "You can plan what you’re doing."
In the game, each player has a "Battle Deck," from which they draw a hand of cards that are then used to compete against their opponent. Action Cards included in the deck and a "Battle Marker" that can reverse winning hands add to the strategy options in the game.
Though TACDEX was designed for two players, it can be expanded into a larger game. "You can mix and match," said Rodi. "Generally, TACDEX is a two-player game. But if you have more than one deck, you can play with more than two players."
TACDEX games are intended for ages 8 and up. Each game will have a suggested retail price of $9.95.
