In Marvel movie news, ComicBookMovie is reporting that Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn has confirmed in the print edition of Entertainment Weekly that GotG will tie into Avengers 3, and Thanos will be "the head of the snake" in the upcoming intergalactic entry into Marvel movie universe continuity.
In Sony’s Masters of the Universe movie news, Variety is reporting that Kick-Ass 2 writer-director Jeff Wadlow has been brought in to rewrite the Eternian epic. Sony acquired rights to the property in 2009, and this is the first news on forward progress on the film since Mattel won an oral summary judgment last month on property rights (see "Mattel Wins First Round on 'MOTU'"). The last news was a rumor last summer that Jon M. Chu was in talks to direct (see "'Masters of the Universe' Movie"), which seems to be refuted, or at least updated, by Variety, which states "(n)o director is attached."
In Star Wars: Episode VII location updates, Hollywood Reporter, who reported two days ago that Abrams and Disney were planning to re-create Tatooine in a "Morocco-like environment" (see "'Episode VII' Returns to Tatooine"), is now reporting that the location will be in and around the city-state of Abu Dhabi, which is located in the United Arab Emirates. Sources say the estimated four-week shoot will begin in mid-May. Maybe Vin Diesel will do a speed-racer drive-by cameo, since he’s just two hours down the road in Dubai filming for Fast and Furious 7. That is, if the local Hutt say it’s ok.
