Z-Man Games announced several new games at its International TableTop Day event last weekend, including Enigma, North Wind, and Battle at Kemble’s Cascade, all planned for third quarter release.
Planned for summer release, Enigma is a puzzle-solving game. Players must solve puzzles to flip over their tiles, and then place those tiles to expand mysterious networks of rooms as they explore an ancient temple.
The box contains 108 double-sided puzzle tiles, 16 networkers (playing figures in 4 colors), 4 puzzle chambers, a starting tile, a scoring wheel, a sand timer, a start player marker and a rulebook. The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 13 and up and plays in 45 minutes. MSRP is $44.99.
North Wind is a seafaring trade and combat game that puts players in the role of captains in the Trade Alliance. Players must crew their ships, supply towns with goods, and battle deadly pirates to return order to the harbor towns they supply.
The box contains 4 large 3D ships, 24 Sea tiles, 16 cannons, 8 commercial letters, 42 gold coins, 64 wooden figures, 40 VP cubes, an event die, a battle die, a Victory Point tile, and a rule book. The game is for 2- 4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 60 minutes. MSRP is $44.99.
Battle at Kemble’s Cascade, by Olle and Anders Tyrland, is an arcade style, retro shoot ‘em up game. Players take the role of brave space pilots, zigzagging through an asteroid field looking for space mines and enemy fighters. The scrolling space backdrop constantly reveals new threats as players move forward, upgrading their ships and shooting at anything that moves.
The box contains 118 Space cards, 5 Player boards, 5 Player pawns, 40 Sensor cards, 30 Bellonium tokens, 32 Upgrade cards, 8 Mission cards, 13 Achievement cards, 23 Power-up cards, Bellonium diamonds, Translucent cubes, a score board and a rulebook. The game is for 1 – 5 players, ages 13 and up, and plays in 45 minutes. MSRP is $39.95.
There were two other Q3 releases previewed at Z-Man’s event, though only a few details were available. Contagion, by Carey Grayson, is described as "the opposite of Pandemic" where players are diseases, trying to spread across the globe. Tragedy Looper is a detective game that employs time travel for players to prevent some pre-set calamity (like a murder or a suicide). More details were not available.
Z-Man has also announced several other games in the last few months, Helios (see "'Helios' and 'Carcassonne' Releases"), Akrotiri (see "New Z-Man Game 'Akrotiri'"), Fairy Tale and Arboretum (see "'Fairy Tale 2E' and 'Arboretum' From Z-Man").
