Dynamite Entertainment has announced that the previously announced The Devilers, by Joshua Hale Fialkov, is now scheduled and will be the first book in a new "creator driven" line from the publisher. The creator driven titles feature "new properties/new characters that either Dynamite created and the creators helped to flesh out or the creators came to us with," Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci told us. "It's the vision of the creative that is driving the characters, and not existing branded characters/IP." Ownership of the properties in the line will be a mix, Barrucci said. "There are creator-owned and there are Creator-Participation, and on this, Dynamite takes all of the risk."
Single issues for this creator driven line will be priced at $2.99, and each launch issue will be completely returnable. Other creator driven books which will come after The Devilers, debuting August 2014 through 2015, include Peter Milligan’s Terminal Hero, Duane Swierczynski’s Ex-Con, Andy Diggle, Angela Cruickshank, and Ben Oliver’s Control, and James Robinson’s Grand Passion.
Dynamite announced in 2012 that Fialkov (The Bunker, The Ultimates, and I, Vampire) would be penning The Devilers in 2013 (see "Joshua Hale Fialkov to Write 'The Devilers'"). The book will launch in July, with art by Matt Triano. Covers will be provided by Jock, and a retailer incentive cover will be done by Marc Silvestri. The Devilers follows a collection of the world’s greatest exorcists who pit themselves against the demons rising from the pits of hell to wage war on the world. Their efforts are all that stand between creation and total annihilation.
