Steve Jackson Games has taken the first step toward the promised return of its classic game Car Wars, for which the company promised a new version via Kickstarter last year (see "'Car Wars' Kickstarter"). Scott Haring has rejoined the company as Car Wars Line Editor, the company announced Tuesday.
Haring was the developer of Deluxe Car Wars and editor of Autoduel Quarterly magazine. Deluxe Car Wars sold over 250,000 copies.
The first new Car Wars products will be re-releases of Car Wars 4th Edition and the Mini Car Wars starter pack, followed by the inevitably lengthy process of a Car Wars Kickstarter.
Car Wars last had new products announced back in 2001 (see "Hot Rods to Hell: 'Car Wars' Returns"); the brand’s been inactive since those were released.
