San Diego Comic-Con News: Having so far only seen a dark and moody promo photo of Ben Affleck as Batman from Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v. Superman film (see "Shot of New Batman and Batmobile"), fans attending the San Diego Comic-Con can see the cape and cowl that Affleck will wear in the film, which is part of a 75th anniversary survey of Batman costumes through the years.
Affleck’s cape and cowl are black (not gray like the ones in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns), though it does appear that the rest of Affleck’s costume will include a mixture of black and gray tones. The news that Affleck was to play the Caped Crusader did set off a controversy among fans (see "Petition to Dump Affleck"), though the "flap" was relatively short-lived with most fans willing to give Affleck and director Zack Snyder a chance to realize their vision.
Snyder’s Batman/Superman, which was originally set for a 2015 release, is currently slated to open on May 6, 2016, which is the same weekend that Marvel Studios has reserved for Captain America 3. Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige said that Marvel will definitely not move the release date of Cap 3, which means that it is likely that Warner Bros. will shift Batman/Superman again rather than go head-to-head with another superhero film.
