Up to five San Diego police and Convention Center security personnel were at the Archie booth on Thursday afternoon, engaging in animated discussion with Archie Co-CEO Nancy Silberkleit, apparently trying to convince her to leave. Although we did not see the entire encounter, a witness from a nearby booth told us that eventually Silberkleit was escorted out by the police.
An Archie spokesperson declined comment on the incident.
Additional security was visible near the booth for the rest of the weekend.
The relationship between Silberkleit and the rest of Archie has been fraught with difficulties, leading to messy litigation over her role in the company, which was confidentially settled in 2012 (see "The Battle for Archie Is Over"). Another lawsuit was filed last year by six employees, who alleged that Silberkleit could destroy the company without court intervention (see "Archie Employees File Lawsuit").
