Catalyst Game Labs was debuting several releases at Gen Con last week, and Catalyst’s Loren L. Coleman shared updated trade release dates on the products.

"Besides the Street Grimoire, the new core rulebook for magic, we flew in two new box sets.  One is the Shadowrun Beginner Box and the Shadowrun Alphaware Toolkit (see "Catalyst Splits 'Shadowrun Intro Box Set'").  We flew in 100 copies each for Gen Con," Coleman said.  The boxes should be releasing to trade at the end of October or beginning of November. Catalyst was also showing off the first new Shadowrun novel in seven years, Fire and Frost, which will be the first of several new books.

“For BattleTech the big thing is Alpha Strike Companion, the follow-up to the popular Alpha Strike rules that allows you to play twice the number of BattleTech units in half the time.  It’s more company on company or battalion on battalion rules that people have really been enjoying. “

Catalyst was also selling the new Lance Packs.  "We have four Lance Packs here, we have eight available for stores very soon.  Each new Lance Pack has four new plastic Mechs; two are reprints from the box set, and two are brand new, never before had them in plastic."  The sets carry an MSRP of $19.99 and will be available in October or November.

Valiant Universe Roleplaying Game (see "'Valiant Universe RPG: Core Rulebook'") also had a Gen Con debut.  "We have the license for the Valiant graphic novels, and we have the new RPG out, which uses our very rules-light Cue system," Coleman said.  "That’s got a lot of buzz from the comic book crowd."

The show also saw the release of the Shadowrun: Crossfire deck-building game and Crossfire Expansion Pack (see "'Shadowrun: Crossfire' this Fall"), as well as the Bravest Warriors Encounters card game (see "'Bravest Warriors' and 'Bee and Puppycat' CCGs").  Trade information on Bravest Warriors Encounters is not yet available.
