Patrick Warburton has been signed to star in a new TV series based on the comic The Tick for Amazon and Sony, according to People. Comic creator Ben Edlund will produce and write.
Only nine episodes were produced of the first go-round at a live action adaptation starring Warburton back in the early 2000s. It debuted to good reviews (see "'The Tick' Debuts to Critical Acclaim"), but was canceled after being put in a horrendous time slot against tough completion by Fox (see "Fox Dislodges 'The Tick'").
Three seasons of an animated series based on The Tick were produced in the 90s.
Comic collections from New England Comics were published most recently in 2011.
