New York Comic Con News: Dynamite Entertainment has announced a licensing agreement with Arcane Wonders for the tabletop fantasy game Mage Wars, with plans to release products in multiple categories, including comics, prose novels, prints and more.
The popular customizable strategy game of dueling mages was designed by Bryan Pope and released by Arcane Wonders in 2012 (see "New Plans for 'Mage Wars'"), quickly became a hot seller, (see "'Mage Wars' Sales Accelerating"), and has had multiple expansions in only two years (see "'Mage Wars: Forged in Fire'").
Dynamite’s first release will be the prose novel Mage Wars: Nature of the Beast, written by game industry veteran Will McDermott, which will debut in January 2015. The 152-page novel has an MSRP of $12.99. Dynamite plans to release a full line of comic books, graphic novels, prose novels, prints, lithographs, and an art book.
