More Hollywood news is budding as spring eases closer. It's time for a round-up!
Netflix has tapped Justin Lin to direct BRZRKR, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lin, who worked on the Fast & Furious franchise, will helm this movie, which is based on the Keanu Reeves-created comic book by BOOM! Studios (see "'BRZRKR'"). Reeves will be starring in this movie as well as producing.
Crunchyroll announced a North American theatrical release date for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle. This first movie is part of a trilogy, and it will release on September 12, 2025. Back in 2021, Demon Slayer: Nugen Train was a top-grossing film at the box office (see "’Demon Slayer’ Opens Big in U.S.").
Lionsgate is closing a deal to secure script writers for a Monopoly movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who wrote Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, are being courted to pen the script. This movie is being produced by LuckyChap, who did the Barbie movie (see "'Barbie' Boffo"), and Hasbro Entertainment. In addition to the movie, Deadline has also reported that there is an unscripted, real world Monopoly contest series in the works.
Shout! Studios and Fathom Entertainment will release Monty Python and the Holy Grail back into theaters for its 50th anniversary. Limited screenings will occur in theaters nationwide on May 4, 2025 and May 7, 2025. The Monty Python and the Holy Grail IP has been fairly hot as a license lately, spawning several different game projects (see " New 'Monty Python RPG' Release Date" and also, "'Magic: The Gathering' 'Secret Lair'").
Filmmaker Ricki Stern is developing a Jack Kirby documentary entitled Kirbyvision, according to Variety. Stern has previously filmed hit docs like Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work and UFOs: Investigating the Unknown. Kirby is, of course, one of the masterminds behind many Marvel characters and officially credited as the co-creator of Captain America (see "'Captain America Comics' #1").
