TDK Mediactive is currently shipping its Aquaman: Battle For Atlantis videogame for the Nintendo GameCube and the Microsoft Xbox to retail outlets all over North America.  The game is based on the venerable DC Comics character Aquaman.  Aquaman has recently been revived in a new series written by Rick Veitch (#8 just shipped); and as a key member of the Justice League, he plays a major role in JLA: Liberty and Justice by Paul Dini and Alex Ross, which ships in November.

On the other side of the game development curve Namco Hometek announced today that the company has acquired the rights to develop and publish videogames featuring the character Snake Plissken, from the feature films Escape From New York and Escape From LA.  CrossGen publishes a bimonthly John Carpenter's Snake Plissken Chronicles comic book (see 'CrossGen Lands Snake Plissken Comic'), and Production I.G., the topflight anime studio responsible for Ghost In The Shell is in the process of creating a Snake Plissken anime film (see 'Production I.G. Creating Snake Plissken Anime').  While both Aquaman and Snake Plissken have their cult followings, a popular videogame release could easily boost awareness of these archetypal characters.
