The film was made back in 1975, but thanks to the wonders of videotape and now DVD, the Pythons' gloriously silly take on the Crusades has remained popular with new generations of fans.  Now Sideshow Toys is commemorating these hapless Crusaders with a highly detailed series of 12-inch figures that come complete with all the pertinent Python accessories like the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.  The figures should ship to stores in October and will retail for around $29.95 each.  While the price demonstrates that the figures are clearly aimed at the collector's market, collectors will receive real value.  The figures have more than 20 points of articulation, themed accessories, chain-mail outfits, and, in some cases, shields--notably Sir Robin, whose oversize ' black chicken' shield almost gave him the courage to stand up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol.

The five figures include: King Arthur, who was played by Graham Chapman, and who comes with his sword Excalibur and the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch; Sir Robin, played by Eric Idle, who comes with his chicken shield, gauntlets and long sword; Sir Lancelot, played by John Cleese, who comes with gauntlets, and an Arrow with message; Sir Galahad, who was played by Michael Palin, and who comes with a grail-shaped beacon; and Sir Bevedere, played by Terry Jones, who comes with chain-mail gloves and a long sword.

The 12-inch Python figures and their accessories include numerous small objects and sharp points, they are clearly manufactured for collectors and are not recommended for children under the age of 5.
