Ross Rojek, former owner of the Comics and Comix chain and the Another Universe Web store, has been sentenced to six years, three months in federal prison and ordered to repay $2.5 million to investors. He pleaded guilty (see 'Retailer, Bound in Chains, Pleads Guilty') to charges related to raising money for non-existent ventures, including a face recognition technology company and a company that was to buy distressed commercial property and resell it for a profit. This marks the sad end of the stories of one of the first, most successful comic store chains, and of what was at one time the largest retailer of comics and related materials in the country.
