The Creative Group, a postproduction company that provides promos, IDs, and bumpers to every major cable network from ESPN to USA Network, has acquired the Starlog Group Inc., publisher of Starlog and Fangoria magazines.  A primary outcome of the acquisition will be the launch of FangoriaTV, a new cable channel devoted to horror programming, with a film division to follow.

Initial programming for FangoriaTV will include reality series Ghost Stories and Trailer Park (hosted by scream queen Debbie Rochon); Screamography (biography documentaries hosted by Felissa Rose); and The Craft, about the nuts and bolts of moviemaking.

FangoriaTV will launch via In Demand's INHD service and National Lampoon Network's standard-signal broadcast to five million college dorm rooms.

Starlog founder Norm Jacobs and right hand EVP Rita Eisenstein will continue to run the publishing operation.  Fangoria magazine is currently the company's top seller; distribution has just been expanded to include Blockbuster's company-owned stores.

Creative Group partner Tom DeFeo handled the acquisition and will run FangoriaTV.  DeFeo said of the acquisition, 'We will be dedicated to continuing the best horror entertainment in the magazine, on FangoriaTV and in movie theaters.'
