In April (from 3/28 to 4/24) Adult Swim set three new records with the largest monthly total day delivery of adults 18-34, adults 18-24 and men 18-24 in the history of ad-supported cable networks. April was the first month in which Adult Swim was split off from the Cartoon Network an individually rated network (see 'Adult Swim/CN Split Cements Strategy'), and, thanks to strong performance from Family Guy, Futurama and Robot Chicken, Adult Swim maintained its position as the #1 ad-supported network for a number of demographically desirable groups including adults 18-34, adults 18-24, men 18-34, and men 18-24. Adult Swim also ranked #3 in April for total day delivery of adults 18-49, ahead of such competition as USA, Lifetime, Nickelodeon, MTV, Spike TV and FX.
While the top Adult Swim performers, Family Guy, Futurama and Robot Chicken are not anime series, three out the seven half-hour shows in the Adult Swim block are typically anime series -- and they also deserve a portion of the credit for Adult Swim's strong April showing.
The Cartoon Network also posted gains in April, with its prime time shows earning double-digit gains. Particularly impressive was the anime-dominated Toonami block on Saturday night, which increased its ratings by 40% and its delivery of 'Tweens' (9-14) by 39%.
