The ABC Network has scheduled its new version of the 1970s cult favorite TV series Night Stalker at 9pm (ET, PT) on Thursdays, a tough slot where it will compete with head-to-head with CSI on CBS and The Apprentice on NBC.  Former X-Files writer/producer Frank Stopnitz is the creative force behind the new Night Stalker series (see 'New Kolchak TV Series in Development'), which is produced by Touchstone Television (a division of Disney, owner of the ABC network).

The original Night Stalker series ran from 1974-1975 and featured solid writing from a number of top TV scribes including David Chase (The Sopranos, The Rockford Files) and Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump).  The new Night Stalker should prove to be a boon for Moonstone Books, which has been publishing a Kolchak: The Night Stalker comic book series since 2002.
