Despite Wal-Mart's tough talk at the beginning of the season (see 'Wal-Mart Fires Opening Salvo in Holiday Price War'), price competition between the top toy retailing mass merchants is not drawing much blood yet, according to Reuters, which quotes toy industry analysts.  Prices comparisons between Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys R Us, show relatively small differences between the three largest toy retailers, and although their prices on heavily promoted toys are dropping, the pace of reductions is still quite sedate.  Wal-Mart has heavier discounts on a relatively small number of products, and Target has shallower discounts across a broader array of products, according to the analysts quoted.
