Humanoids Publishing, the U.S. arm of French comic publisher Les Humanoides Associes, has announced that it will be producing an American version of Metal Hurlant, the innovative French magazine on which the American Heavy Metal magazine was based. The previous incarnation of Metal Hurlant in the seventies launched the careers of Moebius and Drulliet, among many other innovative European artists. The new magazine will run 40-48 pages and retail for $3.95-$4.25. It will carry the French language title in the U.S. Kurt Busiek will be an early contributor. A French edition will be produced after the North American one, reversing the flow of intellectual property that was established in the seventies when Heavy Metal was launched in the U.S.
