Variety is reporting that Timur Bekmambetov has signed on to direct an adaptation of Mark Millar and JG Jones' Wanted comic book series for Universal.  Bekmambetov is the director of Night Watch, a science fiction/action film that outgrossed Spider-Man 2 and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King in Russia.  Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, who wrote Universal's 2 Fast 2 Furious, have teamed up for the scriptwriting chores on Wanted.

Top Cow, which published the original Wanted mini-series, released a hardcover collection last March.  Dynamic Forces has acquired the rights to produce Wanted statues and lithographs (see 'Dynamic Forces Gets Wanted').
