Tom Hardy, who was cast to play Rick Flagg in Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad (see "'Suicide Squad' Cast Announced") has left the production, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Hardy’s schedule, busy later this spring with press for Mad Max:  Fury Road, which opens May 15 (see "Theatrical 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Trailer"), took a rough turn when the movie he’s currently shooting, The Revenant, started running long.

With the film scheduled to start shooting in April, the studio needs a new actor quickly, and is reportedly courting Jake (Nightcrawler) Gyllenhaal for the role, although he has scheduling problems as well; he’s doing a play on Broadway until mid-March.

The film still has a high powered cast, with Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie.
