David Tennant, who was The Tenth Doctor Who, will play the role of Kilgrave in the Netflix Jessica Jones series that is expected to debut in late 2015.  Kilgrave is described in the press release on Marvel.com as "villainous," and as "an enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past," whose "reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world."

Readers familiar with the Jessica Jones comic book series Alias written by Brian Michael Bendis will naturally assume that Tennant will be playing a role based on Zebediah Killgrave, the venerable Marvel villain, who Bendis positioned as Jessica Jones’ primary antagonist.  Created by Stan Lee and Joe Orlando Killgrave, who produces pheromones that allow him to control people, was introduced in Daredevil #14 in October of 1964.

Tennant will play opposite Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, see "Netflix Has Its Jessica Jones") in the second of four announced Netflix series based on Marvel characters (see "Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, & Luke Cage Netflix Series").  The first of the Netflix series, Daredevil, will start streaming on April 10th.
