In a terse message to retailers today, Diamond Comic Distributors announced that ComicSuite, its POS system, and PREVIEWS Pullbox, its consumer advance ordering tool that integrated with ComicSuite, are no longer available. These were key tools for many retailers, and although there has undoubtedly been substantial migration to other POS and advance ordering tools since Diamond filed for bankruptcy, there are likely hundreds of retailers that rely on the two pieces of software to run operations in their stores.
The announcement notes that the underlying ComicSuite POS system, which is Retailer Management Hero, will continue to function, and it's unclear exactly what will happen to retailers who are running the ComicSuite modules for RMH, which are presumably installed on local computers.
It appears that the feared disruption of data flow to retailers, and from retailers to consumers, identified by key retailers from coast to coast as potentially one of the most damaging impacts of the Diamond bankruptcy (see "Retailers Fear Loss"), has now begun in earnest.
