Harrison Ford parlayed his success as swashbuckling space pirate Han Solo in the original Star Wars trilogy into a starring role in the pulp-infused Indiana Jones adventures.  So can Chris Pratt, fresh off the tremendous success of his starring role in the space opera Guardians of the Galaxy, follow a similar path and play Indiana Jones in Disney’s planned reboot of the series?

Ever since Disney acquired the rights to Indiana Jones in 2013, fans have been awaiting news of a reboot--and with its Star Wars film program up and running, it make sense for the folks at Disney to turn their attention to reviving the Indiana Jones series.

The usually authoritative Deadline is reporting that "while things are very early, the studio has its sights set on Chris Pratt" to play Indy in a revival of the once mighty Indiana Jones action/adventure films.  The casting of Pratt as Indy makes perfect sense, though it is hardly a sure thing at this early stage.

Certainly Pratt has had a meteoric rise from "that fat guy on Community" to stardom in Guardians of the Galaxy, which was, until last week, the highest-grossing film in the domestic market in 2014.  Pratt is starring in the upcoming reboot of Jurassic Park, and will start filming a remake of The Magnificent Seven directed by Antoine Fuqua this summer.  With his popularity soaring and the job offers proliferating, the main obstacle to Pratt becoming the next Indiana Jones could be a simple matter of scheduling.
