ACD Distribution has acquired Luma Imports from Flat River Group, and will relaunch the brand with Jules Vautour, Colin Young, and Danni Loe, who will all move to ACD from FRG.  FRG acquired Luma in 2022 ("FRG Acquires Luma"), and subsumed the brand into FRG.

Luma Imports will serve as a new on-ramp into U.S. hobby games distribution and will collaborate with FRG for sales through ecommerce channels.  Luma will also promote and distribute games internationally.

Most of FRG's hobby game lines, including titles distributed by its Impressions division, are expected to move ACD with the deal.  "Most are coming with us," Loe told ICv2.  "Conversations and contracts are still being finalized this month, but shipments have already begun to transfer stock from FRG's warehouse to Luma’s."

As it scales down the hobby games distribution side of its business, FRG will narrow its focus to mass retail and ecommerce.  "I expect this to grow hobby sales for Luma vendor partners while Flat River Group continues to provide world-class distribution for the brands in the mass retail ecommerce and brick-and-mortar space," FRG CEO Matt Stahlin said in a statement accompanying the announcement.

Vautour will become Director of Luma Imports, and in that role will lead business development of new partnerships and services to offer publishers.  As Sales Director, Young will handle global distributor relationships and manage the ecommerce relationship with FRG.   As ACD Director of Marketing, Loe will take over marketing for the whole company, including Meeple Monthly and ACD Expo, ACD’s monthly catalog and trade show, in addition to managing direct-to-consumer efforts for Luma.

"ACD has worked hand-in-hand with Flat River Group for years, and we've experienced firsthand the talent of their hobby division," ACD President Bob Maher said of the team joining ACD.

The ACD acquisition also includes game company Synapses Games (publisher of Yokohama, see "Synapses’ New Version"), which FRG acquired with Luma in 2022.

The move marks a major expansion of ACD's presence in the hobby games business, including board games, which have been an area of focus for the company in recent years.
