Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones is in talks to star as the female lead in the first Star Wars stand-alone project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jones, who recently received a Leading Actress Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything, also played Felicia in last year’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The subject of the film is still under wraps, with the most recent news on the project being screenwriter Chris Weitz being hired for rewrites last week (see "'Star Wars' Spin-Off Movie Gets New Writer").
The film is scheduled to release on December 16, 2016.
