Hollywood news continues to trickle in late into August. Time for a round-up!
Alien: Earth racked up 9.2 million views globally across FX, Hulu and Disney+ over the course of its first six days, according to Deadline. This is, undoubtedly, a strong performance for the first streaming show in the Alien franchise. However, the show's performance is difficult to assess when stacked up against the performance of other Disney+ shows, because it was broadcast on both linear TV (via FX) and streaming channels at the same time. The series began its run with the release of the first two episodes on August 12, 2025 (see "'Alien: Earth'").
Universal Pictures is planning an Archie live-action movie with Eisner-award winner Tom King (see "The 2018 Eisner Award") writing the screenplay, Archie Comics announced. It will be produced by Phil Lord, Chirsopher Miller, and Aditya Soo, producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Lego Movie, along with Emma Watts and Archie’s Jon Goldwater.
Kristen Wiig has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios' Masters of the Universe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will play Roboto, a robot built by Man-at-Arms. The cast now includes Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man (see "Finds a He-Man"), Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms (see "Idris Elba Joins 'MOTU'").
Prime Video has released a trailer for Fallout Season 2 (see below), which will drop beginning on December 17. The next season, which was renewed for Season 3 ahead of its Season 2 release (see "'Fallout' Renewed Ahead of S2"), will focus on New Vegas.
Robert Heinlein's Citizen of the Galaxy is being developed as an animated movie by Lex+Otis Animation Studio, the studio announced. The movie will be directed by Jay Oliva, who has worked on both Marvel and DC animated films, and Luke Lieberman has been tapped as the show's scribe (see "'Red Sonja: Death and the Devil' #1"). IDW Publishing published an adaptation of the novel as a comic miniseries in 2015.
The Nacelle Company has released Igniting the Spark - The Story of Magic: The Gathering. This documentary features over 70 interviews with the creative minds that created the game, including Richard Garfield, Peter Adkison (see "Peter Adkison"), and more. The movie is streaming on Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube, Dish, DirectTV and more (see trailer below).
