At The GAMA Trade Show, Eagle-Gryphon Games shared details on Clockwork Wars and Dawn: Rise of the Occulites, two big box board games releasing in April.

Clockwork Wars is a steampunk fantasy strategy battle game designed by Hassan Lopez.  Players chose one of four races of creatures fighting for control of territories that contain valuable natural resources.  The goal is defeat enemies in battles which utilize a hidden deployment mechanic, to control and develop territories. Players then use the unique “technology tree” to research discoveries in the disciples of Sorcery, Science or Religion, allowing them to develop their towns into cities over three historic ages, earning  victory points as their civilizations progress.

The game is for 2-4 players, though there is a fifth player expansion available.  MSRP is $99.99 for the base game, and the fifth player expansion will be $29.99.

Dawn: Rise of the Occulites is a two-player squad-based miniatures game designed by Ben Boersma that depicts the different evolutionary stages of creatures called Occulites. Players control Occulite tribes who are fighting for survival, and as the game progresses, they can learn new abilities and evolve differently, based on unique stat cards or cards from the “National Selection Deck.”  Tribes have unique goals, which may include taking over uninhabited (or inhabited) land, cooperating against larger predators, or collecting necessary resources for survival.  The game can be played as a single two hour game, or set up as a campaign.

The base game comes with three expansions included in one package, which contains over 40 miniatures total.  There are two versions available, the unpainted ($175.00) or the painted version ($275.00).
