Konami Digital Entertainment will host its next Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event in Chicago, IL on April 11-12 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
A new Public Event will debut at YCS Chicago- the Beta Format Win-A-Mat. The special format reduces the numbers of Summons per turn. Duelists will use Advanced Format rules for Deck Construction, and are allowed a maximum of three Summons per turn: one Normal Summon/Set, one Special Summon from the Extra Deck, and one "other" Special Summon.
This YCS will be the fourth to feature the new VIP treatment for VIP Duelists who qualified via the VIP Qualifier tournaments at registered Official Tournament Stores (OTS). VIP Duelists receive free entry to the YCS, reserved seating, additional match coverage, and a two round bye in the main event.
Pre-registration runs Friday, April 10 from 3 – 7pm, and players will receive five Secrets of Eternity booster packs.
The event will feature Dragon Duels for the younger players (born 2002 or later) on Saturday and Sunday. The winner of Saturday will play against the Sunday winner to determine the YCS Dragon Duel Champion.
The winner of the event will receive an Ultra Rare version of the "Ascension Sky Dragon" prize card, paid travel to a World Championship Qualifier (or if underage, winner and guardian), YCS Top Cut Game Mat that matches the artwork of the "Ascension Sky Dragon" card, a PlayStation 4 system, and an invite to their 2015 World Championship Qualifier tournament.
In addition to the new Beta Format Win-A-Mat, Public Events will include Regional Qualifiers, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, Attack of the Giant Card!!, Win-A-Mats, Battle Pack, and Battle City Tournaments held throughout the weekend.
Konami recently announced the new Ultimate Duelist Series (UDS), a new tournament series for Yu-Gi-Oh!, which debuts in April (see “ New Tournament Series for 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'”).
