IDW Games announced a new line of tabletop games based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Eisner-winning comic series Powers.  The first game will arrive in 2016.

The Powers game line will include card, board, and dice games, each focusing on different characters and situations from the series. The first game, Powers: The Card Game, will be a cooperative card game where players are investigators hunting a player-controlled super-powered criminal.  The game will include several criminals pulled from the comic series, each with unique special abilities and rules.  The players must determine who they’re hunting, and capture the villain before time runs out.  Release is planned for early 2016.

The ongoing creator-owned superhero police procedural was initially published by Image, and later moved to Marvel’s Icon imprint. The series was recently adapted into a live-action series for the PlayStation Network that debuted last month (see “'Powers' TV Series Will Debut on March 10”).

IDW Games recently announced two other major game licenses at the GAMA Trade Show (see “'The Godfather' Tabletop Games” and “IDW Announces 'Orphan Black' Tabletop Games”).
