Stronghold Games has announced plans to release a new space-themed version of the Survive game as well as three new expansions in September, and has dubbed 2015 the “Year of Survive,” similar to the company’s Space Cadets promotion last year (see “Stronghold’s ‘Year of Space Cadets’”).

Stronghold released its version of the classic Parker Brothers game under the title Survive: Escape From Atlantis in 2011, and has since supported it with a number of expansions.  In the original version, players try to escape from a sinking island, evading various sea creatures and reaching safety before the island explodes.

The new version releasing this year is Survive:  Space Attack!, designed by Brian, Sydney, and Geoff Engelstein (designers of Space Cadets). It features new mechanics like fighter ships and laser turrets that allow the survivors to combat the alien creatures that lurk in the void. MSRP is $49.95

The first two expansions for the new game will also ship in September:

Survive: Space Attack! - The Crew Strikes Back! will be a “mini-expansion” that adds crew members to the doomed space station, each with their own unique abilities.  The expansion includes 20 crew cards.  MSRP is $9.95.

Survive: Space Attack! - 5-6 Player will add the components needed to play the game with two additional players.  MSRP is $9.95.

The original Survive: Escape From Atlantis! also gets a “new” expansion.  Survive:  Dolphins & Squids & 5-6 Players…Oh My! will be a combo expansion that includes the new components and game rules previously released as three separate mini-expansions for the game:  Dolphins & Dive Dice, The Giant Squid, and 5-6 Players.  MSRP is $19.95.
