Magnetic Press has announced a graphic novel series based on international best-selling children’s author Cornelia Funke’s Little Werewolf series, produced by animator Raul Garcia. As part of the project, Magnetic will release a behind-the-scenes art book titled Bitten: The Full Moon Book on September 30. A free mini-comic will also be distributed during Diamond Comics Halloween ComicFest in October promoting the series (see "Titles for 4th Annual Halloween ComicFest Announced"). The first graphic novel is planned for 2016.
German children’s fiction author Funke is best known for her Inkheart trilogy and Dragon Rider books. Garcia has animation credits on Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Land Before Time, Aladdin, and The Lion King among others. Garcia will write the animation-style graphic novels, with art by Francisco Herrera (Spiderman’s Venom, The Prodigies). The story follows a high schooler named Matt who gets bitten by a werewolf one night. Matt must deal with his condition while also dodging the Hollywood legend who bit him, who returns to finish the job he started that night.
The Bitten: The Full Moon Book pre-production and design book is a 48-page introduction for the forthcoming graphic novel series. The hardcover has MSRP of $24.99.
