Josh Frankel, the publisher of Z2 Comics, and indie filmmaker Sridhar Reddy have announced the formation of a new production company, Modern Prometheus. Modern Prometheus will have a "first look" option on Z2’s comics including the publisher’s recently revealed line of creator-owned comic books and its expanded slate of graphic novels (see "Pekar, Pope Publisher to Launch Periodical Comics Line" and "Z2 Comics Announces Fall Graphic Novel Slate").
Among the projects that Modern Prometheus is already working on are an animated TV pilot for A Welcome to Showside, an upcoming comic book series by Ian McGinty that features an ensemble cast including musician Henry Rollins, and live-action film based on Paul Pope’s graphic novel One Trick Rip-Off about a young couple who think they can break out of their particular urban jungle by stealing from a local gang.
